Bad Foods To Avoid
ByThese days we have to be really careful of the types of food we eat. Did you know that heart disease is America’s No. 1 top killer? It is sad, but a true reality. It’s very important to watch what you eat. We all need to be concerned about our diet and our health. Pay attention to this list of bad foods to avoid and take notes.
Solid oils – These are shortening for example Crisco. Some people use them in place of lard and actually think it is better for them but the opposite is true. Surprisingly the lard is better for you. The latest studies amazingly show that lard isn’t harmful, as it was thought. It contains less saturated fat, and has more monounsaturated “the good fat”. Lard also has a long shelf life.
Deep fried foods – You should avoid these as if they are the plague. Fried foods have little to no nutritional value and are loaded with fat and calories. Frying foods can release chemicals that have been linked to cancer.
Refined flour and white flour – This type of flour is bleached and stripped of all nutritional properties. Their rapid absorption causes fast changes in sugar/insulin balance in ourblood stream. Whole wheat flour is a better choice and is good for you.
White ri ce - White rice is brown rice that has been stripped of some of its nutrients. White rice quickly converts to glucose in our blood stream. Brown rice is better fo r you. It has all the nutrients white rice does not like minerals, vitamin and fiber. You can mix brown with white if you still aren’t used to eating the brown rice. If you can’t avoid white rice, then eat it in moderation.
Sugar - We all know the consequences of sugar. Sugar has no nutritional value. It raises the insulin level, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresses the immune sys tem. It is also a building block for cholesterol. It is best to avoid sugar as much as possible.
Canned soups – Traditional canned soups are almost loaded with sodium, have high levels of trans fats, and artificial preservatives like MSG. Just one cup of canned soup can contain almost 1,000 milligrams of salt (most people eat more than one cup). The dietary guidelines recommend consuming no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium for the entire day. There are however healthy organic and natural alternatives with low sodium that are healthier for you. Check the labels. Another option is to make your own varieties of soup.
Processed meats - These are certain lunch meats and meats used in canned soup products, jerky, hot dogs, and bacon. They are quick and convenient. It’s so easy to throw a few pieces of meat between a bread to make a sandwich. However they are loaded with sodium, chemical additives and chemical preservatives. They can contain as high as 1,000 milligrams of sodium per serving. This can be a pretty high salt intake considering that the dietary recommended intake is no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium for the entire day. Process meat can also be high in fat. The preservatives in process meat are converted into chemicals in your body. These chemicals have been shown to cause cancer in lab animals. So you can imagine the damage these chemicals can do if you eat a sandwich every day.
By following this guideline you can greatly increase your weight loss success. Not only will you look better but you will also start to feel better. You will be healthier and your body will thank you for it!
